Cowboys & Horses
A Book of Poetry & Prose
This short book of poetry and prose written for no specific purpose other than writing’s sake itself – something which I enjoy immensely. There is so much around me that I see day-to-day out riding at the ranch or up with the cattle, and it is my intent to share at least some of that here. There is some hope that in these writings, you will find a picture or place in your memory of somewhere you once were, or maybe somewhere you haven’t yet been and would perhaps like to go visit – one day – just don’t wait for one day to come to you! I have taken a subject and way of life that I hold dear, and through the good fortune of having met the cowboys whom we ride with now, I have the opportunity to share with my daughters in these precious, precious years some of the same experiences I had as a boy. More than anything, we get to share firsthand an appreciation for the magnificence of God's creations in wide open spaces – and cows!

With its crisp mornings and warm afternoons, September signals a transformative time in the perennial rhythm of the Lower Clark Fork River. Where time stands still, a sanctuary for those seeking the beauty of the outdoors and the thrill of the catch. It's a reminder that each day on the river is a precious gift, an opportunity to connect with nature and create lasting memories. This simple book touches on the experience and 'how-to' of fly fishing in the Lower Clark Fork River region during the golden month. A jumping off point for the angler on a pilgrimage to a place where the line between the natural world and the human spirit blurs and where the tailing of trout becomes a journey of the soul.
